" While I never had the pleasure of
working at Crofty (Graduated from CSM in 2000), living
near the mine all of my life, I have always taken a keen
interest in what is happening there.
In response to what is the progress, while I cannot
give specifics, as I do not work there and as such am
not privy to information, I can say what I have seen,
and it is quite impressive"-
They appear to be advancing several (The only
explanation I can think for the amount of rock being
bought to surface) drives, some of it in pretty abysmal
looking ground, using an array of modern equipment
including: -
1 x Twin Boom Atlas Copco E/H Jumbo (Brand New)
1 x Twin Boom Tamrock E/H Jumbo (Refurb)
1 x Single Boom Tamrock Pneumatic Jumbo (Refurb)
2 x 15 Tonne GHH Dump Trucks (Brand New)
1 x 10 Tonne Atlas Copco LHD (Brand New)
1 x 1.5 Tonne GHH LHD (Brand New)
1 x Eimco LHD (Refurb) Approx 4 Tonne
1 x Toro LHD (Refurb) Approx 1.5 Tonne
1 x 1.5 Tonne LHD (Refurb) 1.5 Tonne
"I would guess they are advancing each face at an
average of 6m per day, judging by the amount of waste
being produced - if only it were ore, but I dare say
that will come!
I see this week they have been installing some pretty
big auxiliary fans underground, but with the amount of
Diesel plant, it would need it! Especially with primary
access appearing to be by Hi-Lux! Definitely more
comfortable than the Cage!
Regarding the underground progress, I know they have
now linked the decline to NCK shaft and New Engine Shaft
(With the Alimak) and I believe they are also linking to
middle engine shaft (Near the old magazine) - As to
where the main target is - who knows? I have some
theories, but that would be pure speculation! I guess
we will find out more in July/August when the due
diligence process is complete.
Although as I said I don't know specifics, I hope the
above gives you all an idea of what is going on."
